We know how HARD teaching can be some days. The staff at Schoolgirl Style wants you to know that we see you, we love, and we are rooting for you! We want to praise you and support you for all of the amazing work you do on a daily basis in the classroom. We also know you can’t pour from an empty cup. Self love starts from within! It’s knowing that you are enough, even on your toughest days. We have curated some amazing products to help you and your students shine. To take care of yourself inside and outside of the classroom. To inspire and to lead by example.
Have you ever flown on an airplane and the stewardess tells you to secure your oxygen mask first before helping others? You can’t pour from an empty cup! In order to be there for others, you have to show up for yourself first. Insert>>>>Self Love Club! Top Ten Self Care Ideas for Teachers
- Set boundaries. This will be different for everyone, but it could mean leaving work at your normal time, only grading papers at school, saying no when you want a quiet evening at home, etc.
- Hanging out with your teacher bestie outside of work. It’s nice to spend time with other people who just get it. Who you can relate to and connect with.
- Journal. I bet you hear this a lot! The importance of writing down your feelings, ideas, and things you are grateful for is SO IMPORTANT! It trains your brain to see the glass half full and leaves space for creativity to pour in!
- Go for a walk outside. Let nature be your therapy and breathe in the fresh air!
- Stay hydrated. The golden rule is to drink half your body weight in water a day.
- Exercise 2-3 times a week and aim for 7,000-10,000 steps a day! Oh the energy it will give you!
- Listen to an uplifting podcase or audiobook on your drives to and from school. It will be an instant mood booster! I love Unlocking Us by Brene Brown. It’s a great place to start!
- Don’t compare yourself to anyone else. YOU ARE AMAZING IN EVERY WAY! Comparison can be the thief of joy, and your unique life experiences and personality bring the goodness wherever you go!
- If a co-worker or student makes you upset, try saying this mantra in your head: “The Light In You Is All I see”. It helps you to focus on things out of your control and to always lead with love.
- Grab a comfy blanket and some hot tea and binge watch a series or show you have been wanting to see!
