I am really excited to share this next room with you! This room belongs to first grade teacher, Holly Gonzales from Tradewind Elementary.
Holly sent in her before photos of her classroom. These were taken last year. Take a look….
Take a look at her AFTER photos…
First, let me say, I love the flooring. In the old pictures, we couldn’t even see the floor. What a great neutral backdrop for the décor. Holly made the right decision to not ignore the flooring or her black chairs and chose a theme that complimented the existing furniture. Do you notice the rug? I love how she changed it to a solid black as opposed to the busy, colorful one from before.
Holly chose black fabric for her bulletin boards and doubled her borders with the Creative Teaching Press daisy border and Nile Green Bordette.
I adore Holly’s ladybug chair…
Holly did a great job making large ladybugs to display above her bulletin boards. To me, this is unusable space, so pulling in her theme with something decorative was a perfect idea!
The hanging paper daisies were purchased from the Schoolgirl Style Shop!
I love how Holly added a ladybug to her desk!
Schoolgirl Style table signs…
Holly used my tags to make cute birthday prizes!
Holly used my Simple & Stylish polka dot collections in black, yellow, red, and green to create this beautiful focal point above her cabinets.
Holly made this cute topiary with coordinating ribbon!
Creative Teaching Press letters look perfect in this pretty ladybug room! I love the white contrast on the black fabric.
Holly didn’t forget her storage containers and added polka dot embellishments…
The daisies are a nice touch too!
You can agree that the transformation of Holly’s classroom was pretty spectacular!
Remember, at the end of the of the contest, you will be able to vote for your favorite classroom to become the winner of the Schoolgirl Style Challenge!
Meet me here next Tuesday night for our 4th finalist!

So adorable! My favorite things are the giant daisies and the ribbon topiary! Just darling!
Holly’s room looks great. I agree, embracing the flooring, was the way to go. (I love the neutral and checks.)
The black / gray were the perfect colors to use with the ladybugs. It is organized and fun!
Holly did such a fabulous job. I am LOVING the welcome banner as the focus. And I love everyone’s poms. Boy, I wish I could hang things from the ceiling!
This is my favorite room so far!! Holly rocked it!!
This is definitely my favorite room. Love the combination of colors and the fact that it is not overdone! Just right!
Love her room! My favorite 🙂
What a fun classroom! Love it!!
I love this room! It’s so clean and fresh looking. My favorite spots are the ladybugs and headings above the bulletin boards. Having something to draw the eye up makes the room feel even more spacious to me – important when it’s full of children – and adds interest without being too busy.
Very nice,
I bet the kids love it!
Awesome!! I have been in many classrooms over the last several years and I have to say this is one of my favorites. Well thought out and constructed room. Very clean and inviting. Even the lady bugs are happy to be there. Great job!

Love this transformation!! The black background on the bulletin boards really sets off the lime green border. Perfect attention to detail! I would never get tired of being in that room. What an inviting atmosphere!
Great Job Holly……Your classroom looks fantastic and I am sure it makes the kids want to come to school everyday. I don’t remember classrooms like this when I went to school. You are truly talented.
Loved it. Very kid friendly.
Very cute room! I love lady bugs and polka dots!
This is my favorite! I love the crisp clean look of the red and black with pops of green and yellow. Organized and pretty at the same time. A great transformation!

I love, love, love this room!!
Holly’s room looks fantastic! She pays great attention to every detail and i’m sure the kids feel right at home in her room!!
WOW !! What a fabulous place to learn. Holly really did a fantastic job. Very
creative, not your typical abc, 123 room. I’m sure all the kiddos love this, the boys
see bugs, the girls see ladybugs.. I am impressed with all the detail, without overload.
I love this room! Definitely gets my vote. The time Holly put in to ladybugs on the walls makes this room a lot more tied together. I am going to use some of your ideas Holly! Thanks so much.
My vote is for #3 it looks amazing!
so cute and orderly!
I love what you did with the room 🙂
I am a preschool teacher and am gaining a reputation for working my magic with paper to create a cute and interesting classroom. It’s playtime for me. In private schools the funding isnt always there for those special decorations so I am forced to create something cute out of minimal supplies. I love all your bright and beautiful ideas and products.
Love the room! What are the black and white polka-dot charts for on the wall? Anchor charts? How were they made and how are they stuck to the wall?
