I’ve spent March and April teaching my students about Earth Day. We started during March is Reading Month while studying our Dr. Seuss unit. The Lorax was the perfect way to introduce my students about taking care of the earth!
We visited the Dr. Seuss website on a regular basis and were so excited about taking part in The Lorax Project! We learned about endangered animals and practiced writing non-fiction pieces based on the animals featured on the site. I’m telling you, my kids are environmental experts now!
I wanted to end our unit study with a fun project . I need to be honest here, I really dislike any art project that requires too much preparation. If I have to trace patterns, cut construction paper in different shapes and sizes, and buy lots of supplies, I probably won’t do it! So….I decided to create my own super easy project!
Creative Teaching Press has the CUTEST Earth Day stickers and I was inspired by this one…
Environmental Superhero Badge #4624
Creative Teaching Press has a ton of Earth Day supplements and I used almost everything they had. It was so much fun to incorporate all of their Earth Day items into my teaching. Their products extended the learning and made our lessons really fun!
To go along with their Environmental Superhero badge, I created an Environmental Superhero for my students to make!
This is how they turned out…
I am telling you…this is the EASIEST project I have ever made with my students and it required very little preparation!
I am an Environmental Superhero!
The kids were so proud to show off their projects to the other students in the school today! I couldn’t help but notice a ton of kids from other classes were running over to check out the projects – there’s something about Superheroes that kids just love!
Here are a couple more items from Creative Teaching Press that I used on my bulletin board…
Dot-to-Dot Uppercase Letters #1889
Designer 6 inch cut-outs – #6236
Go Green Name Badge #4515
This project is perfect to whip up tomorrow or Friday to celebrate Earth Day. Not only is it fun, but perfect for fine motor practice.
