I was looking through old pictures on my camera and found pics of last year’s classroom…my garden theme! I didn’t really start out with any theme at all…I just wanted to use that cute, pink fadeless paper. I wanted to be different. In all of my years of teaching, I never saw a teacher use pink paper. I decided to border the pink paper with yellow. My goal was to have a fun and happy space to walk into everyday.
After using poms for my daughter’s birthday party, I came up with the idea to use them as flowers in a variety of vibrant and gorgeous colors all over my classroom. I purchased the most beautiful aqua tissue paper for flowers, a pretty creamsicle orange, yellow, lavender, lime green, and pink. The end result…a pretty and happy classroom! I had so many people compliment me on the bright colors. If someone was having a bad day, I would find them in my classroom for a “pick me up!” The room was such a happy place to be!
Here is a picture of the self portraits that I had my first graders do. Can you believe a first grader drew this?!?! I can’t remember the website I used, but I googled “how to draw a self portrait” and did this in steps with my students. They turned out great!
My pink and white polka dot curtains! I bet you have figured out by now that I LOVE polka dots!
This is my Accelerated Reader board ~
Pretty polka dot lanterns!
My Bear Mountain ~ My students move across the mountain depending on how many sight words they know.
I can’t help but LOVE this classroom!
